Computer mod causes turbo damage

A not-uncommon cause of engine failure in newer vehicles is the use of non-factory software to increase the turbocharger boost pressure beyond factory set limits, possibly with a chip or a ‘tune’ that runs the engine to make more horsepower, by basically overworking the turbocharger.

This causes the engine to operate outside of factory parameters, which makes more power, but, in some cases, risks engine damage. This article outlines the problems that such actions can cause.
